Homeowner Questions · Rebates and approval
How do I check my Ontario heat pump rebate status?
There is no online tracker for the Home Renovation Savings rebate. You check by phone or email with the program — but the answer you get depends on one thing most homeowners don't know: whether your installer has actually sent in your post-install proof yet.

Quick answer
Call Home Renovation Savings at 1-866-449-8510 or email [email protected] with your name and home address — the official help page is homerenovationsavings.ca/help-and-support. But if your installer hasn't submitted your post-install proof (photos of everything installed, plus the paperwork), the program has no file to check and the payment clock hasn't started.
The short version
- No online portal or login exists for rebate status — it's phone or email.
- The cheque clock runs from application approval, up to about 60 days — not from your install date.
- Approval can only happen after your installer submits proof of install: photos, final invoice, equipment details.
- If the program has no record of you, the submission almost certainly hasn't gone in yet.
Why the program may have no record of you yet
After your install, your installer has to send Home Renovation Savings proof that the job was done: photos of everything that was installed at your home and the updated paperwork. A lot of homeowners call the program a few weeks after their install, hear there's no record, and assume the program lost their file. In most cases the file was never created — the installer's submission is still outstanding, so there is nothing to process and the roughly 60-day payment window hasn't begun.
Ask your installer these three questions first
1. Did my pre-approval go in before the install — and can I see the confirmation? 2. Have you sent my post-install photos and proof to the program? 3. When did you send it? If the proof hasn't gone in, that is your delay, and the program can't move your cheque until it arrives.
Then check with the program
Once the proof is submitted, contact Home Renovation Savings at 1-866-449-8510 or [email protected] with your name and the address where the system was installed. They can confirm whether your file is received, in processing, or approved, and the expected payment timing. The federal rebate, by contrast, has no status to check for anyone yet — applications open in early 2027.
What to do next
Ask your installer for the pre-approval confirmation and the proof submission date.
Call the program at 1-866-449-8510 and confirm they can see your file.
If it's past 60 days from approval, ask for the cheque mailing date and verify the name and address on file.

Not installed yet?
The time to protect your rebate is before the install: pre-approval filed first, and an installer who sends the proof in right after the job.

How do I check my Ontario heat pump rebate status?
There is no online status portal. Contact Home Renovation Savings directly at 1-866-449-8510 or [email protected] with your name and home address. First confirm with your installer that your post-install proof (install photos and paperwork) has been submitted — until it is, the program has no file to check.
Why does the rebate program have no record of me?
Usually because your installer has not yet sent the post-install proof of installation — photos of the installed equipment, the final invoice and equipment details. The program can only process submissions it has received.
How long after approval does the rebate cheque take?
The program allows up to about 60 days from the approval of your application for payment to arrive. The approval happens after your installer's post-install submission is reviewed, so two to three months from the install date is a realistic overall window.
